October 28, 2012: Auntie Laura made an awesome wall hanging for Owen with these melted crayons. I neeeeeeeed to try this sometime; it looks like so much fun.

Day 300: Carousel
October 27, 2012: Day 300!
Can you spot me in this picture? This was taken looking into a curved mirror near the train tracks at the zoo.
And a bonus for Day 300, because he's just too cute (even with a mouth full of sandwich) to not post it.
Day 298: Pole
October 25, 2012: My conferences are done! I have my energy back! I'll start taking new and creative photos again! Not so. This is a pole at a gas station. But I did think the diagonal criss-crosses were interesting.
Day 297: Hiding
October 24, 2012: This kid can have an attitude. In the morning he wants to stay home and not go to daycare. When I go to pick him up, he doesn't want to go home. It ends in tears. He pretty much just wants to stay where he already is. So because we have to go, he accepts it, but becomes pouty and whiny, hiding behind his "snugglies." I hear this is only a phase.
Day 296: Birdhouse
October 23, 2012: This was supposed to be a keychain that lives in the birdhouse when I'm not using my keys; that way I'll always know where my keys are. Instead it just hangs on the wall sans keys. But Owen likes to take the bird and hide it in the pantry.
Day 294: Pumpkin Patch
October 21, 2012: Of all the pumpkin patch pictures I took, I didn't get much that I'm proud of. I was having an off day; you'd think I had never shot manual before. So I'll just have to tell some highlights: Owen's very first pony ride (on a pony named Tootsie Pop), the corn pit, the playground, the spooky Halloween decorations, and the Cow Train.
Day 293: Costume
October 20, 2012: Hulk, Jake (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates), a witch, Darth Vader, a skeleton, a shark, a crocodile, a Power Ranger...these are all the things Owen wanted to be for Halloween. I knew the only way to get him to decide on a costume was to take him to the Halloween store, show him his choices, and just buy a costume. So this is the one he picked out all on his own-- Spiderman. See his hands? He's shooting a web. (And he wore the mask when we went out to dinner right after this.)
Day 292: Maternity Pants
October 19, 2012: I am now the owner (not the proud owner, mind you) of four pairs of maternity pants. My first ones ever. I'm pretty bummed about it since I was lucky enough with my last pregnancy to fit into regular pants the whole time. The stretchy waistband is ugly, and it's weird to have pull-on pants, but damn are they comfortable.

Day 291: Fall Leaves
October 18, 2012: I've been waiting for fall all year when it comes to my 365 project. The colors of the fall leaves are one of my favorite parts of living in this neighborhood. Except when we have to rake them up.
Day 290: Wheel
October 17, 2012: I'm still trying to get over the shyness of taking pictures of other people's stuff. Like if the owner of this motorcycle came out to see me taking a picture of it, I'd sheepishly run off feeling mortified. Thank goodness for iPhone cameras, which makes my 365-ing a little more discreet. On the other hand, I should just get over it.
Day 289: Skittles
October 16, 2012: These were supposed to be potty training Skittles, as in, "Use the potty and you can have a Skittle!" Hmpf.
Day 288: Onion
October 15, 2012: After my yummy shrimp tacos at Maria Maria on Saturday, I was inspired to make some of my own. They were so delicious, and it actually felt good to cook a meal, something I haven't been doing much lately. I made my own pico de gallo, not the best I've ever made, but the reason for the purple onion.

Day 287: The Zoo
October 14, 2012: I finally mustered up the energy to take Owen to the zoo. I've been feeling so exhausted that it's been a few months since I've done much of anything on the weekends. I haven't even so much as walked to the park with Owen. This trip to the zoo proved how out of shape I've become just from skipping my normal walks. (How is it possible that every path at the zoo is uphill?) I'm eager and excited to get back to having some fun on the weekends again.

Day 285: Bathtime Tears
October 12, 2012: I don't even remember what upset him this time, but a tantrum ensued. Fortunately, a fluffy, soft cotton ball will usually make all of Owen's troubles disappear.
Day 283: Sunrise
October 10, 2012: The sun is coming up later and later, and today I was already well on my way to work when it popped up over the hills.
Day 282: Jack-o-Lantern
October 9, 2012: Last weekend Owen and I picked out some Halloween decorations, and among them was this light-up plastic jack-o-lantern. Today he figured out a new use for it-- a receptacle for all his superheroes. He put all his superheroes into the jack-o-lantern's mouth and proudly dragged me over to show me. Considering the fact that there's a light bulb inside, I didn't think it was very safe, but Owen thought it was a pretty fun idea.
Day 281: Shadows
October 8, 2012: Owen had a fever and I had to pick him up from daycare early this afternoon...early enough that it was still bright and sunny in our living room.

Day 280: It's a Secret
October 7, 2012: Well, it's not a secret anymore-- baby #2 is on the way! Here is one of the pictures from our ultrasound on Friday. Jeremy and I got to see the baby bouncing, squirming, and sucking its thumb. To our surprise, the ultrasound technician asked us if we wanted to know what we were having. I thought she was just making conversation, but as it turns out, they can predict the sex of the baby this early with 80% accuracy based on, as she called it, "the angle of the dangle." She thinks we're having a boy. That's kind of what I suspected anyway, but we'll wait and see what they say at our November ultrasound.

Day 278: Sky
October 5, 2012: The sky was very dynamic today. Not bad for a photo taken on the freeway by my iPhone.
Day 278: Pumpkins
October 4, 2012: I let Owen choose a mini-pumpkin at Sprouts. It's amazing how 99 cents can make him so happy. He brought it home saying it would be a surprise for Sydney and Daddy. He wants to decorate it with stickers.
Day 276: Lights
Day 275: Gardenia
October 2, 2012: I planted a gardenia plant way back in the spring, and it finally sprouted two blooms. They smell just like the Marc Jacobs perfume I used to wear.
Day 274: House
October 1, 2012: I could come up with a metaphor about the "keys to happiness" or "opening the door to our future" or something like that. Or I could go on a rant about the door lock getting stuck last month and how we were stuck in the house and how many hours I wasted trying to fix it. But I'll just keep it simple. Escrow closed, we own the house, we're happy, end of story.
