Owen has been out of school since the beginning of June and he just finished the entire Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (11 books!). I brought the series home from school, so the next book would be waiting for him as soon as he finished one. This kid could not put the books down. On a number of occasions, I literally had to wrangle the book out of his hands so he could eat dinner or get dressed for bed or whatever. Kind of crazy to think that only a year and a half ago I was surprised and amazed to hear him sit down and read Hop on Pop all by himself!

(Grand)Father's Day
Plan A (renting pedal boats at Lake Chabot) didn't work out. After a minor meltdown from both boys, we walked a little bit around the lake, and went back home to barbecue, play in the sandbox, and blast off stomp rockets and water rockets.

Screens
Owen: "Can I play ABCya or Clash Royale?" The answer is usually "no," since he asks about a hundred times a day, and without someone to limit his screen time he would undoubtedly play ALL DAY on the computer or iPad.
But sometimes the answer is "yes."
But sometimes the answer is "yes."

104 Degrees
What do you do when you need to get the kids out of the house and it's HOT? Splash around in the water at the park! I wore my board shorts and cooled off a little bit, too.
